Microneedling Dramatically Improves Skin Tone and Texture

Microneedling, also known as collagen induction therapy, is a skin rejuvenation treatment aimed at forming dramatic improvements to the skin tone or texture on your face, neck, or décolletage. By stimulating your body’s natural collagen production, it helps to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, stretch marks, enlarged pores, acne scarring, and loose-looking skin for months of healthy-looking radiance with minimal downtime. Our expert providers use the RejuvaPen™ microneedling system to gently penetrate your skin with microneedles, creating tiny holes that trigger your skin’s natural healing response.

Depending on the areas being treated, a microneedling treatment can be performed in 20-40 minutes. We may apply a topical numbing cream to ensure your comfort. Slight redness may occur during treatment, but this will usually subside in a few hours. You may experience mild itchiness a few days after treatment, as your skin renews itself. Microneedling may be combined with PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma) treatments to further stimulate collagen and elastin growth for more desirable results.

Frequently Asked Questions About Microneedling

Microneedling, also known as collagen induction therapy, is a popular, non-surgical skin treatment that can balance skin tone and help reduce pore size, wrinkles and scars. The treatment can be used safely on all skin types, and requires little to no recovery time. The procedure takes about an hour. Within days, you should be able to see overall improved skin appearance as a result of the treatment. Microneedling also readies the skin for the deep absorption of the product applied during the procedure, which helps boost and accelerate noticeable effects. The superficial micro-channels created allow topical gels, creams and serums to be absorbed more effectively into the skin, including:

  • Hyaluronic acid serums
  • Skin lightening products
  • Growth Factors & Antioxidants

Microneedling, as the name implies, uses ultra-fine needles to create micro channels, or tiny holes, in the skin. The process stimulates the skin’s natural ability to heal itself by producing collagen and elastin. The repair process begins almost immediately, and final results can provide thicker skin and softened wrinkles and scars.

The Microneedling tool contains sterile, disposable micro-needles that are gently glided across the area being treated, creating micro-channels of controlled “injury.” This injury stimulates the production of the skin’s own repairing collagen and increases absorption of the skin care products applied as part of the procedure.

The technology is versatile and can be used to improve skin appearance on many parts of the body, including the face, neck, décolletage, hands and arms. It can be used to help skin look better by reducing and even eliminating acne scars, hyperpigmentation, stretch marks, fine lines and wrinkles.

Microneedling is a minimally invasive procedure that is used for skin improvement, and it works on a similar principle to laser skin treatments. The needling device delivers tiny pricks that can stimulate the natural healing process, creating smoother skin by helping to minimize the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles and scars. It’s a quick, simple and pain-free treatment that provides results by stimulating the skin’s own natural production of collagen and elastin, the important building blocks of healthy, radiant and youthful skin.

The Microneedling device’s high-speed motor causes needle penetration to occur really quickly, feeling more like a sandpaper sensation than needle sticks. Depending on the areas being treated and the depth of needle penetration, patients may experience stronger sensation. Microneedling is most often performed after a numbing cream has been applied to reduce or eliminate any possible discomfort or pain.

Microneedling causes no tissue destruction. The micro-channels created in the skin close quickly, and the healing response begins almost immediately. Depending on the depth of the skin defect, you may see only redness after the procedure, or you may experience some pinpoint bleeding, which stops almost immediately.

A Microneedling procedure can cause redness (similar to a mild sunburn), light swelling, a stinging sensation and a bit of tenderness. These effects can last a day to several days, depending on treatment depth, and the redness is usually easily camouflaged with make-up. Most patients can return to work and normal activities immediately following the treatment.

The AquaGold® Facial Will Smooth and “Sparkle” Your Skin

The AquaGold® facial is a relatively painless alternative to microneedling that infuses customized “skin cocktails” through 20 microscopic needles made of 24K gold. Each of these hollow needles is smaller in diameter than a strand of human hair, allowing the cocktail to penetrate your skin’s surface easily. Each custom skin cocktail contains hyaluronic acid to plump your skin, Botox® to smooth and “sparkle” your skin, vitamin complexes to detoxify and promote skin rejuvenation, and PRP to induce neocolagenesis.

This quick and simple facial treatment starts with a topical numbing cream applied to your entire face. Once your face is numb, AquaGold® allows us to microdose combinations of these result-driven products directly into your skin for noticeably radiant, plumped skin for two to three months afterward. The AquaGold® facial is used to help reduce pore size, even out your skin tone, and minimize the appearance of fine lines and acne scarring. It’s primarily used under your eyes, along your nose, and along your neck’s horizontal lines. This procedure requires minimal downtime. Many patients report a mild, prickly sensation during treatment.

Frequently Asked Questions about Chemical Peels

The VI Peel® is suitable for a variety of skin types, no longer limiting patients of Asian, Hispanic, Middle Eastern, or African descent. It provides five specifically formulated medical-grade peels to address a variety of skin concerns. Here, you’ll find the answers to our frequently asked questions about VI Peels®.

What happens during a chemical peel?

Two weeks prior to your treatment, we recommend prepping your skin with a daily application of Environ’s Vitamin A product to ensure you achieve optimal results from your treatment. During treatment, we gently coat your skin with layers of active peeling agent. Depending on your skin concerns and goals, we let the peel stay on your skin, removing it with a neutralizing agent and gentle cleanser.

Is there any downtime with a chemical peel?

Chemical peels exfoliate the outmost layer of your skin, so you’ll enjoy minimal downtime with this skin rejuvenating treatment. You’ll experience 2-3 days of flaky peeling and pinkness, as your skin renews itself.

What makes the VI Peel® different?

Unlike other chemical peels, the VI Peel® treatments are easy to apply, virtually painless, require no skin pre-conditioning, and deliver results in as little as seven days. These peels are also multi-taskers, nurturing your skin with vitamins and minerals while going through the exfoliation process. They offer longer-lasting results than superficial peels without the significant side effects of a deep peel. They’re suitable for both face and body treatments.

When can I expect to see results?

You should start noticing results within the first week, including brighter, refreshed skin and a smoother texture, with continued improvements in the weeks following treatment.

What ingredients are found in the VI Peel®?

The key ingredients found in the VI Peel® include trichloroacetic acid (TCA), retinoic acid (Vitamin A), salicylic acid (beta-hydroxy acid – BHA), phenol, and L-Ascorbic acid (Vitamin C). TCA provides excellent exfoliation while stimulating collagen production. Vitamin A promotes collagen and elastin production and helps to increase water levels within the epidermis, while Vitamin C also helps to stimulate collagen production while brightening the skin and suppressing melanogenesis. BHA is an anti-inflammatory anti-acne ingredient that clears out dead skin cells. Phenol helps to exfoliate the skin while acting as a low-key numbing agent.

Is a chemical peel right for me?

Chemical peels are suitable for almost every skin type and concern. Our physicians would be more than happy to evaluate your skin status to determine the appropriate treatment plan based on our evaluation, as well as your goals and expectations. Contact us to schedule your personal consultation!
