PDO Threading Facelift: A Minimally Invasive Way to Rejuvenate Sagging Skin

If you’re bothered by signs of aging in your face yet aren’t interested in cosmetic surgery, you may want to consider a PDO threading facelift. This minimally invasive procedure uses tiny, absorbable surgical threads to contour and rejuvenate your face—all without the potential risks or required downtime of surgery.

At Novo Aesthetics in Ridgefield and Wallingford, Connecticut, Dr. Zina Boutaeva is pleased to offer PDO thread treatment to restore smoothness and vibrancy in your face. Read on to learn more about PDO threading and how it might benefit you.

The basics of PDO threads

The PDO in PDO threads stands for polydioxanone. The threads are the same ones used in complex procedures, such as cardiac surgery in kids because they last safely in the body, long enough for your body to heal. From there, your body naturally absorbs them, leaving only healthier tissue behind.

Today, cosmetic specialists use the same technology to add support to sagging skin, which naturally occurs with aging. Once strategically placed, the threads lift your skin and prompt the production of new collagen and elastin, proteins that give your skin a supple, voluminous look. This is important, given that the body produces less collagen and elastin over time.

At Novo Aesthetics, we use this technique for a PDO threading facelift to address common age-related complaints, such as:

What to expect during your PDO facelift

We perform your PDO threading face-lifts in our office, where you’ll receive a local anesthetic to keep you comfortable throughout the procedure. From there, Dr. Boutaeva will inject the PDO threads beneath your skin’s surface throughout the treatment area.

Once your PDO facelift  is complete, you’ll be able to go about your usual daily activities. You might experience some bruising, redness, swelling, or pinpoint bleeding, which will resolve on their own before long. At Novo Medical Aesthetics, we use the AccuVein® device to reveal your facial blood vessels so we can guard against bruising. Ice packs can help relieve any swelling or tenderness.

You may notice some results immediately after your PDO facelift, as well as increased benefits that gradually appear over the coming days and weeks. While individual results vary, many people find that results from their PDO threading facelift last for 1-3 years.
